Vydyne® M344 is an unreinforced, injection
molding grade nylon 6/6 resin modified with halogenated and other
flame retardant* additives. It provides users with a product that
meets Underwriter Laboratories (U.L.) 94V-0 flammability classification
down to thicknesses of 0.017" and 94-5VA down to thicknesses of
.080".
Flame retardant additives generally reduce toughness
and ductility when compared to general purpose, unreinforced 6/6
type nylon. However, Vydyne M344 has been formulated to minimize
such loss, and generally yields more ductile parts than other nylon
and non-nylon (U.L.) 94V-0 plastic materials in commercial applications.
Typical Applications/End Uses
The combination of flammability characteristics,
engineering thermoplastic properties, and retention of electrical
and physical properties when exposed to heat in service make M344
ideal for applications in the appliance and electrical/electronic
industries. Typical uses include connectors, terminal blocks, housings,
circuit board standoffs, clips, clamps, fasteners, switch components,
and many other industrial parts.
